I’ve shot here in every season, but there is something special about driving up the long approach on a crisp Spring morning when the driveway is lined with daffodils.

I always look forward to starting the morning in the Baildon Suite. For bridal prep, space is a massive luxury, and it’s a beautiful room with plenty of light and enough space for you and your bridesmaids to get ready without feeling crowded. When the sun is out, having an outdoor drinks reception on the lawns is where the documentary magic happens. I can work “ninja-style” around the gardens. Then, on a Summer’s evening, we can take a quick five-minute wander onto the golf course. The low sun hitting the long grass is incredible; it’s quiet, private, and the perfect spot to catch your breath before heading back to the party.


Of course, we all know that the weather in the Aire Valley doesn’t always play ball. I’ve shot plenty of winter weddings here where getting outside simply wasn’t an option, but that’s where the benefit of a venue this size really shows. Unlike many venues that can feel a bit “one-dimensional” when it rains, Hollins Hall has so many spaces that we’re never stuck for a Plan B. There is always somewhere for your group shots and couple portraits that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. It’s a huge safety net to have, and it’s something not every wedding venue can offer.

  • Accommodation: While most guests will choose to stay on-site at the hotel, Hollins Hall can fill up fast during peak wedding season. There are a handful of holiday cottages and Airbnbs in Baildon village for those who want a more “local” feel. For anyone looking for something more familiar, there are several reliable chain hotels just a 10-minute drive away in Shipley or Bingley, making it easy for people to grab a taxi back after the party.
  • Restaurants & Cafés: Baildon village has some great independent spots. There are several cozy pubs for a proper Yorkshire pint and a few local cafes that do a great breakfast. If your guests fancy something a bit different, I always recommend they head to Saltaire. It’s packed with independents. Whether they want a craft beer and pizza at Salt Beer Factory or a relaxed lunch on Victoria Road, they won’t be short of options.
  • Activities: If guests have a few hours to kill, they are spoilt for choice. Baildon Moor is literally just up the road; it’s perfect for a walk to blow away the cobwebs, with some of the best views across the Aire Valley. For something a bit more cultured, Salts Mill in Saltaire is a must-see. There’s a permanent David Hockney exhibition, a diverse range of books and local history. If they’ve brought the kids, a stroll through Roberts Park or a ride on the Shipley Glen Tramway (the oldest working cable tramway in the UK) is always a hit. Esholt is the original filming location of Emmerdale Farm and you can visit the Woolpack pub.
  • Travel Info: The venue is accessible by car, and the nearest train stations are Baildon and Guiseley. For guests flying in, Leeds Bradford is the closest airport with easy transfers.

Hollins Hall is a dog friendly hotel.

If you are having a larger wedding, it is advantageous to have a second photographer to ensure that the natural candid photographs are taken, along the the group shots, couple portraits and details. An experienced wedding photographer can usually do all as long as there is enough time build into the day.

The golf course, especially the area around the 10th tee and the driving range are great locations for golden hour photographs.

There is an easily accessible part of the golf course near the car park. You can also request to be taken on a golf buggy further onto the golf course for photographs – this usually happens in summer months after your wedding breakfast.
