Perfect for my natural documentary style approach. As a venue, it’s a photographer’s dream because it’s expansive gardens are beautifully maintained and offer something all year round. With hidden gems around each corner and stunning spaces for couples to have a moment together as newlyweds.

From the warm, dark tones of the barn to the wild gardens and soft evening light outside the hall, it’s a venue that works just as well for relaxed documentary moments as it does for beautiful portraits.
The Iconic Airedale Barn
The heart of any East Riddlesden Hall wedding is the Great Barn (also known as the Airedale Barn). A 400-year-old romantic barn festooned in twinkling lights. It’s a huge space and makes a beautiful venue from the ceremony to the late night party.
Whether you are hosting a high-energy party with a full brass band or a quiet, candle-lit ceremony, the barn is a perfect blank canvas. It is one of the finest examples of a medieval tithe barn in the North of England, making it a spectacular backdrop for your “I dos.”

If you are looking for a Yorkshire wedding venue with character, history and a relaxed atmosphere, East Riddlesden Hall is a fantastic place to get married. Set within the Yorkshire countryside near Keighley, this 17th-century manor house estate combines rustic stone architecture, intimate gardens and the beautifully atmospheric Airedale Barn, giving weddings here a really timeless feel without feeling overly formal.

Couple Portraits in the Gardens
One of the best things about this venue is the variety of backdrops within the grounds. I always suggest a short wander for your portraits and try to break them into two or three short sessions of 10-15 minutes so you get to enjoy your wedding day without leaving the fun for hours. The space outside the barn is always fun for natural documentary moments, including duck feeding, hay bale seating and garden games. A great space for kids and the young at heart.
Styled for Every Season
I have photographed everything from vibrant spring weddings filled with tulips to moody, atmospheric winter celebrations. Whether you want a minimalist look or a space overflowing with local florals, the barn offers a blank canvas.
Pro Tips for Your East Riddlesden Wedding
Local Logistics: Being so close to Keighley and Bingley, it is easy for guests to find. Once you are inside the gates, it feels like a private country escape.
Embrace the Low Light: The Airedale Barn is intentionally moody. I blend natural light and flash to capture the venue without ruining the ambience.
National Trust Charm: Remember that, because this is a National Trust site, the gardens are beautifully maintained all year round. Even a winter wedding here has plenty of greenery and structure.
Whilst I love ERH, it’s not the perfect venue for every couple. The toilet block is a short walk away from the barn and if you’re getting married on a Saturday, the grounds and house are open to the public, with the gates closing at 4:30pm. A lot of couples opt for a Friday wedding and have the grounds to themselves.
